MBA Journey!!!

It’s started last two years in September 2014, when I really decided and determined to further my study and registered to the MBA specialisation in Strategic Management offered by International Islamic University Malaysia.

Actual facts, right after I’ve finished my bachelor degree in 2011, the hunting to which MBA program should I undertake have been started back to 2012. Unfortunately, due to time constraint and focus that I need to render for my son’s UPSR, I’ve decided to put on hold my intention to further study. Hence, for the whole year of 2013, my focus and energy devoted for his UPSR and of course, stabilizing my new team member for the newly payroll project assigned to my department. 

Right after UPSR finished, I have submitted my application to IIUM with deep consideration after thoroughly compares with few other universities that I have surveyed (UiTM, UTM, UPM, MMU, UM).

Why do I choose IIUM? I think the reason behind it is I would like to have an experience to variety of university in Malaysia from the perspective of management as well as to make the quality comparison between the universities. I have done my diploma at UTM (local university) degree at MMU (private university) and since IIUM is International Islamic University, so I have opted for it. Furthermore, IIUM classes will be on weekend compared to UiTM whic is offer only after office hours during the weekday and we can say that it is nearer to my place.

IIUM offered me for September 2013 intake, but due to time constraint I have extended to 2 semester (that is maximum extension period) and since I do not want to re-apply the application I have forced myself to joined them in September 2014. When you stop study after sometime, it is quite difficult to enter the battle again. The ultimate push factor for me to further my study for short term is to upgrade my knowledge so that I could managing my department effectively. For long term I would like to pursue my passion to become lecturer, and to be a lecturer you need to have Master and of course sooner after that phd. I am planning to have early retirement from corporate world at my age of 45. In sha allah. 

Now, it’s already 5^th Semester, another 3 semester to go. I have intention to finish my study earlier, hence, to expedite this I have taken 3 subject for this semester. Hopefully I can finish it by December 2016. In sha allah.

Study in IIUM, you will meet several type of people. Came from different type of industries and countries which open up my horizon of networking. Challenging and really need to full energy and focus for excellence CGPA. If you think that you will earn the Master easily, you may want to forget about it. Nothing come easily. Blood, sweat and tears are come along. So please be prepared to work hard. Any difficulties has been promised by Allah swt the reward.
